A blank piece of paper or canvas in front of you waiting for improvisation - is that nothing is given - and all possibilities are open.
I don't know if there is anything visually as innovatively and strongly challenging in the management of wholes as - improvisational drawing and painting without any model.
Why.
Because.
A blank piece of paper or canvas in front of you waiting for improvisation - is that nothing is given - and all possibilities are open.
It follows that at least on a visual level, improvisation in art develops or at least challenges the highest intelligence named by Einstein in the artist - creativity.
And by improvisation I don't mean that you just throw anything on paper or canvas - but that the improvisation ends up in some understandable visual form and end result - that the artist improvises an understandable end result on their own without any model.
So the situation is mentally quite different from making art from a model.
