Electric bikes are increasing. But their safe and practical storage is lagging behind.

I watched worriedly as that brand new expensive electric bike was out in the yard all evening and fortunately now inside in the morning.

Electric bikes are increasing. But their safe and practical storage is lagging behind.

The lock on the bike shed in the yard is too weak to be safe and dragging a 20 kg bike to the second floor is heavy even for me and is not at all possible for women.

I suggest the following to the housing company.

A stronger lock for the bike shed.

In addition, a steel mesh cage with a sun-shielding canopy will be built on the wall in the picture. Which extends to the edge of the light lawn in the picture. This will create a corridor to transport bikes inside the cage.

A recording camera equipped with a motion sensor will be installed above the front yard door, which will show on the one hand those coming into the house and on the other hand those going into the bike shed.

In addition, consider whether it would be possible to install a socket in the outdoor cage to charge electric bikes. In the event of a fire, it would be the safest place for such a thing to happen.

In any case, the current situation is unsustainable and will probably not withstand the scrutiny of insurance companies.

I will also send a copy of this message to the municipal registry office and to the national media to raise awareness of the matter.
