What is the most demanding and intelligent journalism?
In my opinion, asking people "how do you feel" about the same topic day after day is filling media space with subjective village talk style and level instead of objective - which is certainly important to locals but on a media level it's mostly gossip but doesn't qualify as national media or even local media for more than a little spice.
Mixing objectivity and subjectivity not only covers up objectivity with people's feelings - and at the same time steals media space from objective topics.
There are three things behind this.
1. There are too many media and journalists, which leads to the lack of good topics in relation to filling too much media space, leading to shit being thrown at the media. In other words, media and journalists need to be dropped. We should move to the model of Yle's foreign journalists - where when there is one journalist, it forces them to focus on what is essential and there is no space and time for bullshit.
2. It is also about the media's desire to regulate information in order to gain political power and manipulate people's consciousness - what is not chosen as a topic or told is also power.
3. In addition, it is about the populist courtship of people to maintain the tyranny of mediocrity - the tyranny of mediocrity being based on the fact that most people are centered around the average intelligence - which is why they are the most important group politically, economically and in terms of the media - whose main reason for being manipulated is that - because of their intelligence, they do not understand everything, so they need others to understand for them - and that is what populists attack. And that is why they need intelligent and ethical people like me who tell them how things are objectively and ethically - and how they could work better.
So in this matter, I am not so much advocating investigative journalism as ethical and realistic journalism - the more analytical version of which is investigative journalism - and more demanding than that is ethical-realistic investigative innovative journalism that also seeks solutions, which is thus, in the sense of mentioning Einstein's creativity as the highest intelligence, the most intelligent and demanding journalism.
