 Farewell of the fading day

I analyzed my painting a little myself.

The subject is good, profound, multi-layered, the theme of the picture suits it. A look into the distance, a rower on the river, a curved series of lamps, a vaguely darkening sky, lights in the windows – people in the twilight.

The composition is good, perhaps the lower left corner is too empty, which is also a symbol. The drawing is acceptable.

The use of colors and light is careful, but perhaps also incompetent – ​​on the other hand, the painting style was slow, building the atmosphere and the twilight of the evening – and you have to be careful with strong contrast, because it immediately destroys the atmosphere, and in watercolors it cannot be dismantled like in oil paints. I would say – the painting has the ingredients of a masterpiece, also in the fact that it does not have too many things and naive explanations. This time the masterpiece fell at the feet of incompetence – but – two consolations – I am on the road all the time – and – although it cannot be dismantled in watercolors, it can be continued. The question is – is it worth sacrificing what has already been achieved at the risk – and – will I still be able to tune into the same mood and continue it, or will it necessarily become a new mood? So there are many problems.
