One comment mentioned that my painting is unfinished.
It brings out one of the most important functions in all forms of art, in my opinion.
That good art does not explain and create everything to the end. Instead, it allows the viewer, reader, listener, and experiencer to position themselves as another creator of art through the unfinishedness.
So that the unfinishedness, which does not explain the meanings to the end, is like bait that the recipient of the art catches - and thus takes the work to their own fantasies, illusions, feelings, and experiences.
Good art is therefore bilateral - between the artist and the recipient - creativity.
In which case, a naturalistic explanation that does everything to the end kills the recipient's possibility of creativity.
And the recipient feels - that looks real - so what - I see reality enough in reality - do I still have to look at it in art - and believe the trick that the exact reproduction of a photograph of reality in art is art.
When it is only and only the visual art that destroys the recipient's own creativity and fantasy.
So not art that respects the recipient's innermost being at all.
Solid proof of this is the enduring popularity of the impressionistic quality of all art forms.
Which underlines the fact that naturalistic visual art is almost always a content-free egotistical display of skill by its creator - and not art at all. Which is completely clear - if the artist is unable to create any improved reality on top of his visual skills.
The parallel in music is the popularity of karaoke - that is, the fact that people go to listen to karaoke without singing themselves - is that even though people sing badly, they dare to do so and express themselves with unfinished skills. And no one ever moralizes them in karaoke.
Which again raises a big social question - is the popularity of listening to karaoke due to - that people in society are not allowed to be themselves - without anyone moralizing it.
But that in society it is morally reprehensible to be yourself.
Such a society is identity-destroying in a seriously sick way - and is certainly not mentally well.
